Supply Chain Programs

We aim to create responsible, diverse, and respectful supply chain relationships

Akamai’s supply chain programs

Responsible supply chain

Akamai seeks to foster a responsible supply chain through engagement in mutually beneficial relationships with diverse, environmentally and socially conscious, and responsible suppliers.

Supplier Engagement Program

Through our Supplier Engagement Program, we aim to develop mutually beneficial partnerships with small businesses, including companies owned by women, minorities, veterans, and people who are socially and economically disadvantaged or have disabilities.

Responsible Supply Chain Program (RSCP)

Overview

We are committed to maintaining a responsible and sustainable supply chain that upholds high ethical, environmental, and social standards. Our Responsible Supply Chain Program is designed to assess and mitigate risks, drive continuous improvement, and foster strong partnerships with suppliers and partners who share our values.

Supply chain standards

While our suppliers vary in size, location, and scope, all are expected to adhere to Akamai’s Guiding Principles for Suppliers and Partners, which detail our expectations for our business partners.

We expect our suppliers and partners to go beyond mere compliance with laws and regulations by embracing the spirit and intent of our guiding principles — promoting human rights, environmental sustainability, and ethical business practices.

Supply chain risk assessment

In partnership with a trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, we identify supplier-related sustainability risks and advance supplier sustainability practices by:

  • Assessing how businesses have integrated sustainability and corporate responsibility into their business and management processes
  • Reviewing risks related to human rights violations, environmental harm, corruption, and legal non-compliance across our suppliers and business partners
  • Working with suppliers and partners to create improvement plans where needed

We expect our suppliers and partners to consistently monitor and enforce our standards in their own operations and supply chains, as well as make improvements to meet or exceed our expectations.

Supplier Engagement Program

Overview

Akamai’s Supplier Engagement Program is designed to provide access to procurement opportunities for a wide range of small businesses. By cultivating strong, mutually beneficial relationships, we aim to build a supplier ecosystem that reflects the rich variety of capabilities, experiences, and backgrounds across the communities we serve.

This program supports a commitment to innovation, excellence, and community resilience — ensuring our supply chain remains agile, inclusive, and aligned with our mission to power and protect life online.

Who we partner with

In addition to working with large corporations, Akamai seeks partnerships with small businesses that share our vision and values. This includes businesses of all types, including those owned by veterans, individuals with disabilities, underrepresented business owners, and/or those facing social or economic barriers. We welcome suppliers who bring unique perspectives and scalable solutions to help us meet our evolving global needs.

What we look for in a supplier

We evaluate suppliers based on several key characteristics that align with our business priorities, including but not limited to:

  • Delivery of best overall value
  • High-quality products and/or services at competitive pricing
  • Proactive, reliable, and superior customer support
